Since the mid-`60s, William Anthony ‘s bizarre universe has got cult status among prominent people such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. According to Warhol himself Anthony`s illustrations of the Bible were the only ones Warhol could understand. People understand them. This satirical descriptions of human folly, war, the mythology of the Wild West and the humorous "copies" of modernist masterpieces possess an unmistakable charm. It is clearly seen through iconography that it is pop. But it is also sub - Pop Art subconscious. A machine which displaces and distorts images. Over the last decade, Anthony has exhibited several times in Denmark through Stalke Galleri.
